A lot of people outside China ask me about the cost of living here, so it might be helpful to people considering moving here to know more about everyday costs. I'll post a few prices here and keep the thread running. All the prices are for products bought in Tianjin unless otherwise stated. Some are in small stores, some in supermarkets, so there might be various prices for the same items. Feel free to add requests or post prices on other items and from other places in China.

200g premium yoghurt: 4.20 RMB Two fairly small onions: 1.18 RMB 400g tin of Italian plum tomatoes: 9 RMB 50g bag of locally-made Doritos: 3.10 RMB

Ground beef: 19.8 RMB per kg 330ml can of Watson's Tonic Water: 4.3 RMB 580ml bottle of local beer: 2.5 RMB Celery: 1.8RMB per 500g

One night at IBIS hotel: 288 RMB Beijing subway ticket: 2 RMB Kung Pao chicken with rice (takeaway): 13 RMB China Daily (English newspaper): 1.5 RMB Watson's Tonic Water (330ml can): 3.8 RMB Small takeaway salad: 4.5 RMB
